The great thing about, for example, Blender, is that - once a student
spends some time with it, the results are pretty much immediate. I had a
student designing gaming environments after three months. There were other
students who did 'take' to flash or even video editing - whatever. Once
that happened, it often became obsessive.

All that having been said, the department got rid of me (I was tenure-
track) and closed down the line altogether. This was at Florida
International University. From the state that brought us Bush.
